The Phoenix Trophy NOTICE 15/05/12

The Phoenix Trophy golf competition first round was drawn 14/05/12 – the draw and participant contact details have been emailed to all participants and secretaries of those clubs involved.

• Please note all matches to be played by 17th June 2012.

• The participant drawn first and shown on top is the Home player. Please arrange contact with your opponent within 48 hours

• All match results are to be submitted to us as soon as possible post match, preferably within 24 hours of the match being played detailing match winner, opponent and the score. Can you also advise what hole the match finished, for example 3 and 2, All square 18th away player won

• Please ensure that you are familiar with the Phoenix Trophy competition rules which can be seen at the foot of this page. Especially where there are 2 players from different clubs playing the away player receives the result if all square after 18 holes.
If the two competitors are from the same club the match will continue until the first hole is won.
Maximum handicap difference is 18

Please ensure that all your matches have been played by 10th May 2012 and that your match results have been submitted to us by noon on Monday 14th May 2012.

The next round public draw will take place at 7pm at Rossendale Golf Club and draw will be emailed onto all participants at our earliest opportunity.

What is The Phoenix Trophy?

Rising from the ashes and filling the void left by the lack of other similar local competitions a new and exciting competition is born - The Phoenix Trophy.

The Phoenix Trophy allows male members of local golf clubs to participate in an individual match play knock out golf competition.
The members of Accrington, Baxenden, Great Harwood, Green Haworth, Nelson, Rishton, Rossendale, & Whalley golfs clubs are invited to enter.
 
Competition entry fee is only £4.00
Closing date for entries is 2nd April 2012.
Courtesy of the course for participants has been kindly provided at the following clubs: Accrington, Baxenden, Great Harwood, Green Haworth, Nelson, Rishton, Rossendale & Whalley.

Complimentary green fees & meal for all last 16 finalists on grand final day courtesy of David J Miller Insurance Brokers.

The last 16 will take part in The Phoenix Trophy Finals Day at Rossendale Golf Club on Sunday 30th September 2012 at 2pm when the top two will play the final as match play with the remainder playing a Stableford Competition for third place.

There will be a presentation & meal after the competition and every finalist would be expected to attend. Jacket and tie being required.

Entry fees can be online via PayPal using credit or debit card via this webpage by clicking the ‘Pay Online’ button below. You don't need a PayPal account ... just click the "Don't have a PayPal account? Pay with your debit or credit card as a PayPal guest" link underneath the PayPal Log In button on the payment screen. Alternatively cheques can made payable to David J Miller and sent to David J Miller Insurance Brokers, 339 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, BB5 3HS including your completed registration form. Cash payments can be settled in person directly with Mr Miller along with your completed registration form at the offices of David J Miller Insurance Brokers, 339 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, BB5 3HS.

All entry fees must be paid prior to the competiton entry closing date.
             


The Phoenix Trophy Competition Rules

Entrants must be full members of named golf clubs with active handicaps at time of entry.
Competition to be played from white tees.
All participants must have registered to play and entry fees paid in full by 5pm on the 2nd April 2012.
Entry fees can be online via PayPal using credit card via the website at www.davidjmiller.co.uk/the-phoenix-trophy or cheques can made payable to David J Miller and sent to David J Miller Insurance Brokers, 339 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, BB5 3HS including your completed application form. Payment can be made in cash direct to Mr Miller at the offices of David J Miller Insurance Brokers, 339 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, BB5 3H should you wish to hand in your registration in person.
All participants to provide a valid email address as all correspondence and communication between participants and the competition organisers/administrators will be via email. No other communication method will be utilised for the purposes of the notification and competition administration.
Participants are wholly responsible for ensuring that they regularly and periodically check the email account registered with us for any notifications and/or updates in relation to the competition.
Green Fees are shared unless the home club gives courtesy. Those clubs that do will be acknowledged on this web site. Green Fees for last 16 finalists at Rossendale Golf club on 30th September 2012 will be courtesy of David J Miller Insurance Brokers.

The Phoenix Trophy match results including the score of the match have to be notified to the committee preferably by e-mail within 24 hours of the match taking place.
Match Play over 18 holes. In the event of the match being all square at the end of the 18th the match is awarded to the away player. If the two competitors are from the same club the match will continue until the first hole is won.

Maximum Handicap is 28 with the maximum allowance for any one match being 18.

In the event of a match having to be suspended for a genuine reason, illness, light etc the score at the last completed hole will be taken and the match will be continued from that last hole. If the players have reached the green every effort should be made to complete the hole being played.

In the event of lightening, contestants should leave the course immediately and the above rule applies.

The Home player should make contact with his opponent within 48 hours of the start date of the round. Players may play before the start of any round once they know who they are playing. Both parties have to be reasonable in arranging dates. If a date cannot be agreed an appeal by either party may be made to the Committee of The Phoenix Trophy which is a last resort. Any appeal can result in one or both parties being disqualified if the Committee doesn't feel sufficient effort has been made in the spirit of the competition.

The last 16 will take part in Finals Day at Rossendale Golf Club on Sunday 30th September 2012 at 2pm when the top two will play the final as match play with the remainder playing a Stableford Competition for third place. Home players will lose one shot off their handicap for Home advantage when playing for third place. There will be a meal and presentation provided for last 16 finalists after the competition and every finalist is expected to attend. Jacket and tie being required. Complimentary meal and presentation for all last 16 finalists on grand final day courtesy of David J Miller Insurance Brokers.
All participants will be notified in advance of public draw dates. Those who wish to attend may do so.
The rules of Golf apply and any decision by the Committee is final.

These rules are subject to change at any time and may be amended or added to prior to the opening day of the competition and any changes will be detailed on the webpage.

Minimum entrants 32. Maximum entrants 128. The competition can be cancelled by the Committee at any time should insufficient participants enter into the competition. Any entry fees paid will be refunded in full in the event of the competition being cancelled by the Committee due to insufficient participants.
